The Tennessee office of Trust for Public Land has secured nearly $20 million in funding to develop the Alton Park Connector, a 2.6-mile urban trail in South Chattanooga. This project, funded through the Inflation Reduction Act and supported by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is set to transform the area by expanding green spaces, increasing the tree canopy, improving stormwater and floodplain management with nature-based solutions. It will connect the Riverwalk to Clifton Hills Elementary to enhance outdoor recreation options and community engagement that will benefit over 1,800 residents within a half-mile of the trail.
As work begins, TPL continues to play a vital role in promoting sustainability and community revitalization in Tennessee. To stay updated on the progress of the Alton Park Connector and other green initiatives across the state, visit the Trust for Public Land’s website.
