As the Wood Snake slithers in for 2025, the Lunar New Year celebration is particularly special to mark an extraordinary astrological cycle that symbolizes renewal, prosperity and good fortune. From dazzling dragon dances to immersive cultural performances, Chattanooga offers multiple ways to enjoy this festive day. Whether you’re indulging in authentic Asian cuisine, engaging in martial arts demonstrations, or in awe by just watching traditional lion dances, there are plenty of opportunities to experience this occasion right in your own backyard.
To kick off the festivities, Collegedale will have food vendors, Tai Chi and live cultural shows on February 2. Two more events are happening on February 8, the Asian Food & Gifts of Chattanooga will host a street performance of the lion and dragon dance, a bouquet-making station and free snacks plus the Creative Discovery Museum will also have its own martial arts demonstrations and interactive calligraphy workshops. This is the perfect way to explore and appreciate the rich traditions of the Lunar New Year.
