Exciting news is on the horizon for outdoor enthusiasts in Soddy-Daisy! Plans are underway to transform an old railroad track along Sequoyah Access Road into a six-mile walking trail – Rails to Trails. This future greenway would stretch from Dayton Pike to the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant which ensures residents and visitors a safe, scenic space for walking, running, and biking. With an estimated cost of $8 million, the project is expected to be developed in three phases, funded through grants and community partnerships.
While there’s no official timeline yet, the Hamilton County Health Department and Regional Health Council are actively working with the TVA to secure property rights and move the project forward. Once completed, it will not only promote healthier lifestyles but also strengthen the area’s outdoor recreation network. For now, the community is encouraged to stay tuned and support this investment in wellness, nature, and connection.
