Attack of the Tatsu is growing, and this time it is stepping into something a little more intimate. Owner Daniel Starkey is opening Mumashika next door in Patten Square, transforming the former Lil Mama’s space into a 30 seat dinner spot connected directly to the original restaurant. While the former has become known for its ramen and laid back energy, Mumashika will offer a more refined Japanese inspired dining experience in Chattanooga. Guests can expect a charcoal yakitori grill, an open kitchen, and a space designed for creativity, collaboration, and seasonal menus.
Mumashika, a playful name rooted in Japanese folklore, reflects the team’s honest approach to their craft. Starkey and his crew have always aimed to honor traditional Japanese methods while creating something that feels true to them. Led by Executive Chef Kollin Schanley, the new concept will feature pre fixed dinner menus, rotating seasonal offerings, and special events like wine dinners, chef popups, and bar takeovers. The idea is simple: keep the ramen in the front, add an elevated dining option in the back, and give food lovers a new place to celebrate life events, family occasions, or just a thoughtful night out. Updates will be posted on their social media accounts and website nearing its opening by late March or early April.
