Chattanooga’s riverfront is getting a major upgrade, and while it means a temporary closure, the payoff looks worth it. Starting this fall, the downtown riverfront at Ross’s Landing will close for about 18 months as construction begins on a large-scale renovation project. Known for hosting events and offering one of the most scenic walking spots in the area, it is set to come back with better features designed for both locals and visitors.
The plan includes over 200 new trees to create much-needed shade, along with two new restaurants on each end—one for quick bites and another for sit-down dining. Visitors can also expect an expanded 5,600-square-foot public riverfront dock, recreational courts under Highway 27 (including pickleball), plus a new playground, updated lighting, public restrooms, and improved accessibility. While construction is expected to begin in November, more timeline details are still on the way. Once complete, you can expect a more comfortable, modern, and inviting space for everyone.
