EPB has been named the top electric utility in the nation for brand appeal by J.D. Power, one of the most respected names in customer research and analytics. The recognition comes from the 2026 U.S. Utility Residential Brand Appeal Index Study, which surveyed more than 142,000 customers across 152 electric utilities and 87 gas utilities nationwide. The study evaluated factors such as brand awareness, customer trust, communication, outage response, and overall reputation. After holding the No. 1 spot in the South for three consecutive years, EPB outperformed every regional winner in the country to earn the highest national ranking.
The honor reflects more than a strong brand. EPB has also been ranked highest in customer satisfaction for residential electric service among midsize utilities in the South for 10 consecutive years in a separate J.D. Power study. From Scenic City’s world-class fiber network and advanced smart grid technology to the recent launch of EPB Quantum, the utility continues to invest in innovation while keeping customers at the center of everything it does. President and CEO-Elect Janet Rehberg thanked customers for their trust and credited EPB employees for their commitment to improving quality of life across the community. For a hometown utility to earn national recognition on this scale, it’s clear that Chattanooga’s customer-first approach is making an impact.
