After nearly two years of renovations, Chattanooga’s beloved Tivoli Theatre is ready to welcome audiences back. Known as the “Jewel of the South” since 1921, the historic venue has undergone a $75 million restoration that carefully preserves its original character while adding modern conveniences throughout the building. Restored plasterwork, chandeliers, and decorative moldings highlight the theatre’s rich history, while expanded concessions, additional restrooms, improved accessibility, and a new front-of-house elevator create a better experience for guests. Rather than changing what made the Tivoli special, the project focused on bringing its timeless beauty back to life.
The grand reopening takes place next month with two performances by Grammy Award-winning bluegrass artist Billy Strings. The celebration also marks the beginning of an exciting future for the venue, with Broadway productions, concerts, comedy shows, and community events already planned in the years ahead. It remains one of most important cultural landmarks, helping connect downtown destinations and draw more visitors to the city center.
