Chattanooga Airport is on track to surpass its record-breaking enplanement numbers from 2019 with a target reach of 555,000 passengers by the end of this year. According to Airport President and CEO April Cameron, the latest addition of new flights by Delta Air Lines and United Airlines has fueled this remarkable growth. The Delta route to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport which was launched on October 8, has already achieved an 89% load factor attributing to the high demand from the city’s business and leisure travelers. This focus on expanding air service to sought-after destinations demonstrates the airport’s commitment to meeting community travel needs and driving regional connectivity. Chattanooga Airport’s goal is a 90% load factor across flights by positioning as a rising hub in the Southeast.
Financially, Chattanooga Airport is in a strong position with increased equity and a net income of $16 million despite a slight drop from last year’s $22 million, which included grants for capital projects like terminal expansion. A recent audit also confirmed a sound financial footing due to its efforts to reduce liabilities and pay down bonds. Although insurance premiums rose by 5.34%, the area remains on stable financial ground and continued success in attracting more routes and travelers that strengthens its status as a key player in regional air travel.
